Surbiton is a railway town that grew up around Surbiton Station opened in 1838. To celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the opening of the Stockton & Darlington Railway, the first steam passenger service, I mapped the growth of the rail network and urban development over time. This mapping was done at the regional scale from Southwest London to Surrey. I also considered the local scale around Surbiton Station.
